Cuckoo Boom is developed by Batiscafo LLC ("we", "us"). This page explains what information the app collects and why. If anything here is unclear, contact us at info@xymyx.com.
Cuckoo Boom does not require an account and does not have a server component. Your best score, game settings, and local play history are stored only on your own device (in local storage) and are never sent to us.
The first time you open the app, we ask how old you are. This is used once to decide whether you're shown standard ads or child-safe, non-personalized ads (see below). We do not store your age — only the resulting category (whether you're treated as a child under 13, or as a general audience user).
We use Google AdMob to show ads (banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded ads). Depending on the age category from the screening above:
AdMob is operated by Google and governed by Google's own privacy practices. You can read how Google handles this data at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and Google's AdMob data disclosure.
The optional "Lightning Tournament" mode lets you play against friends using a shared code. To make this work, the app creates an anonymous identifier for your device (through Firebase Authentication) and stores your chosen display name, tournament results, and the tournament's name in our database while a tournament is active. This data is not linked to any other personal information and is used only to run the tournament (matching, live results, and rankings).
At the end of a tournament, you may optionally leave an email address so we can notify you about future tournaments or updates. This is entirely optional, is stored separately from your gameplay data, and is never shown to other players. We don't offer this option to anyone who identified as under 13 in the age screening above.
Cuckoo Boom is not primarily directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. The age-screening and ad-tagging described above exist specifically so that users who identify as under 13 are shown non-personalized ads and are not tracked for ad targeting, in line with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Cuckoo Boom does not offer account creation or sign-in with a username, password, or email in the normal game. Tournament mode (see above) uses an anonymous device identifier behind the scenes to make matching work — it never asks for a password and isn't tied to your identity. If we add optional accounts in the future (for example, to keep your progress across devices), this policy will be updated first, and any user who identifies as under 13 in the age screening will not be offered account creation without a compliant parental consent process.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
